فرضیه جهت‌دار یا فرضیه یک دامنه (directional hypothesis): فرضیه‌ای است که جهت تأثیر متغیرها بر هم و ارتباط آنها را مشخص میکند. این فرضیه زمانی استفاده میشود که پژوهشگر دلایل مشخصی برای پیش‌بینی جهت ارتباط متغیر مستقل بر متغیر وابسته دارد. فرضیه جهت دار معمولا با استفاده از کلماتی مثل بیشتر، کمتر، مثبت، منفی، بالاتر، پایینتر و… نوشته میشود. مثلا اعتیاد به گوشی همراه اثرات منفی بر کیفیت زندگی دانشجویان دارد یا مصرف الکل باعث افزایش ریسک بروز بیماری‌های کبدی میشود.

However, analysts are positive on the stock now. “We have seen a huge downside movement in the stock due to the central electricity regulatory commission’s (CERC) order that seems to be negative from 2014-15 onwards but we cannot take a linear negative view on the stock and further downside movement on the stock is unlikely. Currently stock is underpriced. Investors can bet on it for a longer horizon," said Vivek Gupta, director research at CapitalVia Global Research.
